Ball State NECA Student Chapter Selected as
Green Energy Challenge Finalists!
Please join us in congratulating our Ball State NECA Student Chapter's Green Energy Challenge team in advancing to the finals for this year's GEC competition! The Ball State NECA Student Chapter was chartered in 2015, and has established themselves as a contender for national awards. They have previously won the Green Energy Challenge poster competition (twice!).
The Green Energy Challenge (GEC) engages university students and faculty advisors in an annual event that fosters meaningful student interaction with their community and NECA member companies. For this annual event, students design and then present their approach and solution to energy-efficient installations at a specific type of facility. NECA Student Chapter teams demonstrate their ability to analyze particular electrical construction management “problems” and create a comprehensive plan and budget for an appropriate retrofit. Students are challenged to develop technical skills that are vital to careers in electrical construction and professional skills including time management, written communication, and oral presentation.
This is BSU's first time placing as a finalist in the main GEC competition. The students faced an extra layer of challenges in completing their proposal this year, as Covid-19 shut down on-campus activities, and even as the students transitioned from the spring semester into their summer internships.
Please plan to tune in virtually for the live GEC competition with your NECA Live registration, which will take place on Monday, October 5, 2020 from 11am – 1pm Eastern Time!
