01/15/2021 Update: PPP Loan Information, DEI, and Social Media

Good Morning!

We're half-way through January and, despite all of our collective hopes, things aren’t quite all better as of yet. At least it's been awful in new and surprising ways and given last year, that’s kind of impressive!

Despite the news though, I can honestly say that my conversations with many of you have actually been more upbeat and certainly more hopeful. It's been wonderful to hear and I hope it continues! Thankfully, the news I have to pass along from the industry shouldn’t do anything to disrupt all that positivity.

To start things off right, I’m so pleased to say that Sam’s efforts with the NECA National Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion task force have granted us some insight into all of the things NECA is doing to help make our industry more reflective of the country as a whole and to open up new avenues for all types of people to work in it. Here’s a video they’ve developed to kind of summarize this initiative. It’s exciting to see and even more exciting that we get to take a leadership role in making it happen.

Next, as you’ve no doubt heard by now, the SBA and US Treasury have opened up a new round of PPP loans. We posted the first interpretation on these new programs by Barnes and Dennig back on January 8th. But I’m pleased to say we have some official guidance from NECA National now as well.

There are some changes, perhaps clarifications and clean up is the more accurate term, in this round which should make it easier to apply if you are a first time OR a second-time borrower from the program. It’s certainly worth the time to read about the program if you haven’t considered it before.

In education, our good friends at Federated are offering a free webinar on Tuesday the 19th at 1 PM on 2021 Common Osha Citations. You can register for the class here.

Finally, our Chapter has finally stepped out of the 1990s and will now have a social media presence! You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. You can also find the direct links on our Chapter website under the Contact ribbon. It is exciting to have a platform where we can highlight the great work and investment you all put into improving the communities around us.

It’s not quite the same thing as seeing you all in person but… it’s a step in the right direction! One day forward. One day closer to being back to something we can recognize as being normal. Until then, as always, thank you for being a member, and give me a call if you have any questions.
